CITATION FOR MR. NOEL DEXTER On the occasion of the 38th Anniversary of Temple of Light CSL
Today we honour our longest serving and much loved member, our Musical Director Mr. Noel Dexter.
Fondly called "Maestro," and "Missa D." this living national treasure and musical icon made the Temple of Light his Spiritual Home in 1979 and helped our Founder, Rev. Elma Lumsden lay the foundation of this ministry. Rev. Elma relied heavily on his musical expertise and he would help her choose the hymns for services, rewriting some of the lines of the traditional hymns to give them a positive slant and make them more reflective of the Science of Mind philosophy.
A study in humility and grace, his unwavering faithfulness to the Science of Mind teaching and his devotion and loyalty to our spiritual community have been a Sermon in Truth as well as a source of strength and inspiration to those who, throughout the years, have been blessed by his music and his presence amongst us.
Maestro has a birds-eye view of the congregation from where he sits behind the piano on the upper platform and if he notices that any of our regulars are missing, he will enquire after them. In addition to the immense joy that music brings him and which has been his gift to our church, Jamaica and indeed the world, it is his genuine love of people, his deep caring for the human condition and his generosity of spirit that have endeared him to our congregants over the years.
Missa D! We love you, we bless you and we give God Thanks for you. May God's Grace continue to guide and sustain you and may your Life forever be a Song of Praise and a Psalm of Thanks-Living to the God whom you have served with the sweet melody of your Life.
